February Favorites

Hi everyone,

Today, as it’s the end of the month, I thought it would the perfect time to do my February favorites. I have quite a few things to talk about, across various categories, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple favorites from my February Sephora Play Box, I will link that below if you haven’t read it. My first Play favorite is the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream. I’ve been using this since I got it and my skin is absolutely loving it. It’s light, it sinks in really quickly and it does hydrate for a long period of time. It reminds me a lot of the Clinique Moisture Surge which I love so much, and I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for something really hydrating.

IMG_5154

My other Play favorite is the KVD Vegan Beauty Lock-It Setting Powder. I’ve been using this for a while, I’m wearing it today, and it’s one of my favorite setting powders. It really does lock everything in place and I like it for baking.

IMG_5155

IMG_5156

Next we have is the Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer. I got a sample of this with a Sephora order and I was happy to see that it was a sample option because I had been wanting to try before I buy. This concealer is so freaking good. It’s long wearing, doesn’t cake, takes well to powder and pretty much made my under eye invisible. It’s that good and if you haven’t tried it I would definitely say do it.

My second to last beauty favorite is the Too Faced Fall In Love With Your Lashes Set. This set is adorable. It comes in the shape of a heart and you get a full size Better Than Sex mascara and a mini Damn Girl mascara. Better Than Sex is one of my all time favorite mascaras, it gives my lashes volume and length. I haven’t yet tried Damn Girl but I’ve heard great things about it and the brush is pretty big and looks like it will get all your lashes, so I’m excited to wear it.

And my last beauty favorite is the e.l.f. Haute Chocolate Eyes Spice palette. I did a whole post on this, which I’ll link below, but I’m really enjoying it and it’s different than other palettes I have so I’m having fun with the unique looks I’m creating.

IMG_5122

Moving on, I have a tech favorite and it’s the TP Link WiFi Extender. I have a couple of WiFi dead zones that have become more annoying recently so I went on the hunt for a booster/extender and I found this one on Amazon. It came highly rated and I can see why. It’s super easy to connect and it does it’s job really well.

And my last two favorites aren’t music favorites but podcasts. The first is Dinner With Racers. DWR is hosted by Sean Heckman, long time PR man in racing and Ryan Eversley, race car driver. They travel around talking to various race car drivers and people within motorsports. It’s always really funny, super informative and one of my all time favorite podcasts. They recently released a bunch of new episodes and they have a show on Amazon Prime, which I recommend giving a watch. The Poster episode had me cackling, it was fantastic.

The other podcast is called The Afterburn Podcast. Former U.S. Air Force F-16 pilot, John “Rain” Waters, sits down with various pilots and others to share their stories and how they got to where they are. I find podcasts like this super interesting and I’m really enjoying it so far.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorite this month let me know and if not I’d love to know what your favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great February :).

Blogmas Day Seven: Christmas Day Activities

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Seven! Today I’m going to be talking about some of my favorite Christmas Day activities. I’ve mentioned this before, but on Christmas Day my family has a really chill day and it’s pretty much always been that way. I do my makeup on the more glam side, do a simple hairstyle and put on some cozy loungewear. We take our time opening presents and just enjoy ourselves.

After the present opening there’s a good amount of time before dinner and after everyone has messed with their presents it’s only natural to want to fill that time with something, so for us it’s always been games. As my siblings and I have gotten older the games have changed, but now we have our favorites.

One of my favorites is darts. This is a newer addition to the holidays but I think it’s one of the most fun. I highly recommend buying a dartboard if you don’t have one because it’s a great game and kids and adult alike can have a lot of fun with it.

Something I try to do at least once during the holiday season is put together a festive puzzle. I love puzzles always but especially during the holidays because it’s such a cozy thing to do. And the festive puzzles are so cute and have great pictures.

Ever since I was a little kid and I know before I was born, my parents would buy my siblings a new video game or video games. That tradition has continued on as we all have consoles and love to play games, there are some we play team up and play together and others only one of us will play. But on Christmas day one or multiple of us will open up a game and we’ll all play.

The last activity we have is dominoes. On Christmas night after dinner we all gather around and play dominoes. This is something we’ve been doing for years and all have a lot of fun with, especially because we’re all a little competitive with each other but there’s always so many laughs.

That about wraps it up for this post, if you have any games you play with your family on or during Christmas I’d love to know what they are.

Until next time, enjoy your traditions and I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas :).

What I Did This Weekend: Car Show Edition

Hi everyone,

Today I wanted to do something fun and different. Over the weekend there was a car show downtown, it’s something they do every year, so I went down with my dad, it’s been a minute since we’ve hung out, took some pictures and just had fun. I would’ve taken more pictures but I kinda forgot to take out my camera. And with that being said, let’s get into it.

CS1

CS2

CS3

CS4

CS5

This was one of my absolute favorites, it’s an Austin Mini Truck. Mini trucks aren’t new to me but I’ve never seen a British mini truck and I just love it, it’s so unique and honestly adorable. I want one.

CS7

CS8

CS9

CS10

This Willy’s Aero is honestly one of my favorite cars of the whole show. This belongs to Herm Petersen, aka The Northwest Terror, drag racing legend. He’s a fixture at not only this car show but at the races most weekends and he’s incredibly nice.

CS12

CS13

I don’t know if seeing a hyrdoplane at a car show would be weird in other places but here it’s very normal. During Seafair weekend hyrdoplane races take place on Lake Washington and this one, piloted by Jaime Nilsen competed against Jimmy Shane, J Michael Kelly and others for the Seafair Cup.

CS11

That about wraps it up for this post, there is one car that I saw that I didn’t take any pictures of because I was so shocked by it, and it was a Hillman Husky. They’re these cute little old British cars and I had never seen one before but my uncle had one forever ago and it was cool to actually be able to see it after hearing about it. If your favorite car is in here let me know which one it is and if not I’d love to know what your favorite is.

Until next time, cars are fun and enjoy your weekends :).

Blogmas Day Seven: Eric Clapton Christmas Album Review

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Seven! Today I’m going to be talking about Eric Clapton’s Christmas album Happy Xmas. I wanted him to do a Christmas album forever and I’m so happy that it happened. I have this album on my phone and I have a physical copy, but I do that with most albums. I’m one of those people who still likes CDs, I bought a few for other people because CDs always make great Christmas presents/stocking stuffers and the art on this album is adorable. I know it was drawn by Eric and it makes it feel that much more Christmassy.

EC1

The track listing for this album is:

  1. White Christmas
  2. Away In a Manger (Once in Royal David’s City)
  3. For Love On Christmas Day
  4. Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday
  5. Christmas Tears
  6. Home For The Holidays
  7. Jingle Bells
  8. Christmas in My Hometown
  9. It’s Christmas
  10. Sentimental Moments
  11. Lonesome Christmas
  12. Silent Night
  13. Merry Christmas Baby
  14. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

I know that if you listen on Spotify then you can hear two bonus tracks, A Little Bit Of Christmas Love and You Always Hurt The Ones You Love. Which are great, just like the rest of the album.

What I like about this album is top to bottom it’s different. It’s that perfect mix of bluesy and classic Christmas with a surprise thrown in. Jingle Bells is dedicated to Avicii, as Eric really liked his style and I think that that’s a beautiful thing to do, especially during this time of year. And it’s a great song.

Overall, this album is everything I wanted it to be and more and I give it a 9.5/10. The classics are so well done, the originals are amazing. I don’t think that I have one song that is my favorite, but I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been listening to this on and off since it came out in October, which I don’t do with Christmas music, and since it’s December it has made it’s way onto my Christmas playlist.

If you haven’t yet listened to this album, I highly, highly recommend that you do. I know it’s on Spotify and YouTube. I bought it from iTunes and got the physical copy from the EC store on his website, but I know that you can buy it other places.

That about wraps it up for this post, if you’ve listened to this album what’s your favorite song or songs?

Until next time, you can never have too many Christmas albums and have fun listening :).

Blogmas Day Three: My Christmas Tree and Holiday Stories

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Day Three of Blogmas! Today I’m going to be showing you guys my Christmas tree and talking about some of my favorite Christmas stories to read as a child. And I’m going to start with my tree.

I’m really happy with my tree this year, I’m not entirely sure what it is, I think it’s a Noble or some variation of Noble. I went to a tree farm I’d never been to before but is really popular and I was impressed. It’s a huge area and they have beautiful trees. Already having my tree and having it decorated makes it feel so much more Christmassy and makes me even more excited for Christmas.

HB8

HB9

Moving on, we have some Christmas stories. When I was a kid these were stories that I loved to read or when I was really little have read to me and they just embody the holiday season to me. And now my mom has kept the tradition going by reading these stories to my niece and nephew. There are two version of The Night Before Christmas because I would keep one on my little bookshelf to read whenever I wanted and my mom would keep the hardback version. And besides The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore, we have The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer by Robert L. May and Rudolph Shines Again by Robert L. May, which is the sequel to Rudolph.

HB1

HB2

HB4

HB7

HB5

HB6

HB3

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys read any of these books/if any of these books are part of your Christmas traditions or if you read something different during the holidays I’d love to know.

Until next time, enjoy your books and have fun decorating your trees :).

Blogmas Day Two: Christmas Cards and Present Wrapping

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Day Two of Blogmas! I did miss yesterday, I was incredibly busy and didn’t have time to write, so I’m going to be double posting. This post is going to be about my 2018 Christmas cards and a little look at how I’ve done some present wrapping and we’re going to start with the cards.

This year my cards are Charlie Brown themed and I think they’re super cute. When I pick out cards each year I don’t have a predetermined theme in mind, it’s usually whatever catches my eye and I never do the same card two years in a row. It’s a little hard to tell in the pictures, but Snoopy and Woodstock are raised up so it gives it some dimension. I like that the design on the envelope extends to back so you see something when you’re opening it and I like that the saying on the inside isn’t leaning one way or another and it’s just a nice holiday sentiment.

HC1

HC4

HC5

HC2

HC3

So, on to the present wrapping portion of this post. This year I’m exchanging gifts with a good friend of mine like I always do but the difference is we’re in different states, so we’re shipping gifts to each other and that meant that I had to finish my shopping early and get these wrapped up and sent out, which I did. I find present wrapping to be very creative and therapeutic, so I really like it. I’m not going to say what these gifts are, but I’m going to be doing a Friendsmas post in the coming weeks and I’ll talk about what we got each other. When I wrap presents I try to have a theme, think about the person and tie everything together. So I’m going to start off by saying that this isn’t everything for this person, just what I had at the time when I took these pictures. For my wrapping paper I used the blue because I like the pattern and the fact that it’s double sided, the gold was for the stocking stuffers which I wouldn’t normally wrap up, but I thought it would be cuter that way and I used the red as a tie in between the stocking stuffer presents and stocking itself which is red. I do have bows, but this felt more like a ribbon occasion, so I did silver with the blue paper, gold with the red and silver on the gold to make it feel cohesive and because silver and gold is a popular theme for Christmas. I then curled the ribbon. Like I said I’ll be doing a Friendsmas post so you’ll be able to see all of the gifts together. I think it came together nicely and I’m happy with it.

HC6

HC7

HC8

HC9

HC10

HC11

HC13

That about wraps it up for this post, when you guys wrap presents do you prefer bows, ribbon or both?

Until next time, what do you guys look for in Christmas cards and have fun wrapping presents :).

Blogmas Day One: Holiday Cocktails

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Day One of Twelve Days of Blogmas! After doing all twenty four days last December I thought I would change it up and do twelve days this year. I’m excited to be doing Blogmas again and I’m starting off with a fun one. Today is all about fun and festive holiday cocktails, so let’s get into it.

The first cocktail we have is the Mistletoe Cocktail and this recipe makes one drink.

What You Need:

  • 1/4 teaspoon of lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of honey
  • 3 mint leaves
  • 1 ounce of Vodka
  • Ginger Beer
  • 5 cranberries. 3 of which are for garnish
  • 1 sprig of rosemary to garnish
  • White sugar to garnish
  • Crushed ice
  • An 8 ounce glass

What You Do:

  • In a dish add the mint leaves, honey, lime juice and two cranberries. Mash together using a muddler and set that aside.
  • Take two small dishes, add lime juice to one and sugar to the other. Dip your glass in the lime juice then the sugar to rim the glass.
  • Take the mixture you made in the first step and add that to the bottom of your glass. Then add crushed ice, vodka and the ginger beer.
  • Garnish with the rosemary sprig and the three remaining cranberries.
  • Serve and enjoy!

The second cocktail we have is the Berry Merry Christmas Cocktail. This is technically a martini, but it can be served in different ways in different glasses, and this recipe makes one drink.

What You Need:

  • 1 shot of Vodka
  • 1 shot of Chambord
  • 1/2 shot of Limoncello
  • 1/4 shot of Grenadine
  • Club soda

What You Do:

  • Take a cocktail shaker and fill it with ice
  • Add the vodka, Chambord, Limoncello, grenadine and 1 shot of club soda. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass.
  • If you want this served on the rocks, which is really yummy as well, add the booze together in a cocktail shaker and pour into a tall glass filled with ice and top it off with the club soda.
  • Serve and enjoy!

The second to last cocktail we have is Apple Cider Sangria. I had this at a holiday party last year and it was really good. And this recipe makes a good amount.

What You Need:

  • 1 bottle of Moscato Wine
  • 1 cup of Light Rum
  • 1 1/2 cups of Apple Cider
  • 1 cup of Ginger Ale
  • Ice
  • Apple slices to garnish

What You Do:

  • In a large pitcher add the Moscato, Light Rum, Apple Cider and Ginger Ale and stir to combine.
  • Pour over ice and garnish with an apple slice
  • Serve and enjoy!

And the last cocktail we have is White Christmas Margaritas and this recipe makes six drinks.

What You Need:

  • 1 14 ounce can of coconut milk
  • 12 ounces of Silver Tequila
  • 8 ounces of Triple Sec
  • 1/2 cup of lime juice
  • 2 cups of ice
  • 1/2 cup of mint to garnish
  • 1 lime sliced into rounds to garnish
  • A lime wedge to rim the glasses
  • Sanding sugar to rim the glasses
  • Cranberries to garnish

What You Do:

  • In a blender add the coconut milk, Tequila, Triple Sec, lime juice and ice and blend until smooth.
  • To rim the glasses run the lime wedge over the rim and dip in the sanding sugar.
  • Pour the blended drink into the glasses and garnish with the lime round and cranberries.
  • Serve and enjoy!

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys have any other holiday cocktail suggestions let me know. I’d love to try them.

Until next time, enjoy your cocktails and welcome to Blogmas! 🙂

2018 Halloween playlist and festive nails

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be talking about my 2018 Halloween playlist. I did a post like this a few years ago, I will link it down below, and I thought it was about time that I updated it. It’s on Spotify so I will leave a link to it down below if you want to go and give it a listen.

The songs that were on it from years past were I Put A Spell On You, there are three versions, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Buddy Guy and Carlos Santana and my favorite of the three Joe Cocker. Monster Mash (Bobby Pickett and The Crypt-Kickers), Ghostbusters (Ray Parker Jr), Thriller (Michael Jackson), Werewolves Of London (Warren Zevon), Superstition (Stevie Wonder), Bat Out of Hell (Meat Loaf), Black Magic (Little Mix), Highway To Hell (AC/DC), Bad Moon Rising (Creedence Clearwater Revival) and Cajun Moon (Eric Clapton). This year I really took the time to look for songs that I not only like but that I would want to hear if I was at a Halloween party or on Halloween night. So I added the following songs, Hungry Like The Wolf (Duran Duran), Witchy Woman (Eagles), Voodoo Chile (Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood), Voodoo Child (Slight Return) (Jimi Hendrix), Sympathy For The Devil (The Rolling Stones), Black Magic Woman (Santana), Runnin’ With The Devil (Van Halen), Evil Woman (ELO), Evil Woman- Live at Wembley (ELO) I included two versions of this song because sometimes a song is better live and I happen to really like this one live. The Time Warp (Richard O’Brien), Frankenstein (The Edgar Winter Group) and Hells Bells (AC/DC).

Because this post is slightly short and I don’t think I’m posting another Halloween post before the 31st, I’m going to show you guys the festive nails I did yesterday. Normally I go with a bloody nail look, but I wanted to branch out this year so I went with Frankenstein inspired nails. I do like how they came out, but I’m missing a detail brush so the scars are slightly bigger than I wanted them but you can tell what I’m going for.

HN1

For this I used LA Colors Color Last in CNP31 Onyx, Salon Perfect 502 Loopy Lime and Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat. I’m really liking mattes right now and I love the look of matte black nails so I’m really happy that I went with it.

HN2

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys have any more songs suggestions let me know and if you did Halloween nails tweet me a picture or tag me on Instagram because I’d love to see.

Until next time, if you’re going to or hosting any parties have fun and I hope you all have a Happy Halloween! 🙂

July favorites

Hi everyone,

Today as it is the last day of the month, I thought it would be the perfect time to do my July favorites. I have a pretty good mix this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my July Sephora Play Box and I’ll link that post down below if you haven’t read it. The first thing we have is the Caudalie Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence. You put this on before you do your serum and moisturizer and it removes the dead skin so the serum and moisturizer can really sink in and do what they’re supposed to do. I’ve been using this since I got it and I really like it. I knew it was going to be a great product because it’s Caudalie and they make some of  my favorite skincare products, which you’ll see in an upcoming post. But I would definitely recommend this.

JSP5

Next up we have the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Paaarty. This is a really pretty nudey pink and it looks great on. I’ve mentioned that I have another one of these, it’s in the shade Feisty, and they are some of my favorite blushes.

JSP2

JSP8

JSP7

And my last beauty favorite is the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Natural. I absolutely love this product. I have one that I’ve been using for I don’t know how many months, but it is truly fantastic. I put it on before I go to bed and it leaves my lips feeling really moisturized and smooth. 100% would recommend.

JSP4

Moving on, I have a stationery favorite. I love all things stationery and I’m always looking for a cute new pen and I found one that I absolutely love. This one is marble and rose gold, which is always a great combination. It writes smooth, it’s ball point and it goes with my other stationery bits and pieces. If I can find a link for it I’ll put it down below.

JLY1

My next favorite is kind of a random one, but it’s a variety puzzle book. I used to do these books all the time and I really liked it. I bought this at the grocery store a few weeks ago and I was reminded of why I liked these so much. This is basically one giant contradiction, because I find these to be very relaxing but at the same time I like that they make you think a little and work your brain. But either way, when I’ve had free time lately I’ve been doing this.

JLY2

And my last favorite is a music favorite. It’s actually two favorites and they’re both concerts. The first one is The Rolling Stones: Havana Moon. This concert took place in Cuba on March 25, 2016 and it was huge. It was a free concert and it was estimated that 500,000 people attended. Admittedly I’m haven’t been the biggest Rolling Stones fan, I do have a couple songs of theirs that I like. But there’s something about this concert, I don’t know what, that changed what I thought. And if they were going to be in town tomorrow I would definitely go and see them.

My second music favorite is Paul McCartney and Wings Rockshow. This isn’t like a regular concert DVD because this one features segments from different shows on the Wings Over the World tour, New York, Seattle and two shows in Los Angeles. The thing that pushed this over the top for me was the fact that there was footage from the Seattle show, which was played in the Kingdome, and my dad was at that concert. He had always told me how great it was, but to actually be able to see it was so cool. And to hear what they were playing back then was great, there were songs I hadn’t heard before. If you haven’t seen either of these concerts before I would highly recommend giving them a watch or listen to the album versions.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your July favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you all had a great July :).

Mother’s Day cocktails

Hi everyone,

As Mother’s Day is Sunday and brunch is a very popular option, I thought I would give you guys some drink recipes that I love. They’re super easy and guaranteed to be a hit, so let’s get into it.

First up we have Moscato Wine Punch.

What you need:

  • 1 bottle of your mom’s favorite wine. My mom, like myself is a white wine person
  • Simply Lemonade, regular lemonade or one of the flavors. That is totally up to you
  • Half a liter of Sprite
  • Various fruits, I like blackberries, raspberries and strawberries.

What you do:

  • Get a punchbowl and fill it with the wine, lemonade and the Sprite.
  • You can put it in the fridge to chill, then add the fruit. Or you can put the fruit in the freezer and use that to chill the punch
  • Serve and enjoy!

Next up we have Peach Sangria, this is great for any summer party and this recipe makes four to six drinks.

What you need:

  • 1 bottle of dry white wine
  • 1 cup of pineapple juice
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 3 ounces of peach brandy
  • 2 ounces of triple sec
  • 2 ounces of simple syrup
  • 2 to 4 ounces of peach puree
  • 1 Honey Crisp, Golden Delicious or Granny Smith apple. Cored and sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 3 peaches, pitted and sliced

What you do:

  • Place all the ingredients in a large pitcher and put in the fridge to chill for at least eight hours, or overnight depending on when you’re going to serve it.
  • Fill your glasses with ice and pour the sangria over top.
  • Add fresh cut fruit on top to garnish.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Our second to last cocktail is Strawberry Bellinis and this recipe makes four drinks.

What you need:

  • 3 cups of strawberries
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry Moscato
  • 2 cups of rose champagne or prosecco
  • Strawberries to garnish

What you do:

  • Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor and strain through a sieve.
  • In a blender combine the strained strawberry juice, powdered sugar and strawberry Moscato and blend until smooth.
  • Put in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes to an hour.
  • Evenly distribute the strawberry mixture among four champagne flutes and top each with 1/2 cup of champagne or prosecco.
  • Garnish with a strawberry, serve and enjoy!

And finally we have Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade. This one is non-alcoholic but you can add champagne to it.

What you need:

  • 6 medium lemons
  • 3/4 cups of sugar, divided
  • 2 cups of thawed frozen raspberries
  • 2 liters of Sprite

What you do:

  • Add 1/4 cup of sugar to 1 cup of raspberries and gently mash. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Juice all of the lemons and pour through a strainer. Add that to a pitcher with the remaining sugar.
  • Add the Sprite and stir to combine. Put in the fridge to chill until you’re ready to serve.
  • Garnish with the remaining frozen raspberries, if you want to add the champagne now would be the time to do it.
  • Serve and enjoy!

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys make any of these drinks let me know how they turn out.

Until next time, enjoy your drinks and have a happy Mother’s Day :).
