August favorites

Hi everyone,

Happy Monday, I hope you all had a great weekend! As August is almost over, I thought today would be the perfect day to do my favorites for the month. So starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my August Glam Bag and if you haven’t read that I’ll link it down below. My first favorite is the bag itself, there were three possible bags and this one was definitely my favorite. I love the colors, the tassel and the fact that it says Peace, Love, Lipstick. That’s a great motto.

Next we have the Seraphine Botanicals Liquid Coal Waterproof Liquid Liner. I’ve worn it a couple of times, including today, and I really like it. The tip is more pen like and you get a nice line, definitely check it out if you’re looking for a new eyeliner.

Moving on, we have the YADAH Silky Fit Concealer BB Power Brightening in the color Light Beige. I bloody love this, it’s 100% one of the best things I’ve gotten in a Glam Bag and probably one of my favorite products I’ve put on my face. It’s semi matte, hides everything and is an SPF. Highly, highly recommend it.

And my last Glam Bag favorite is the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with red clay. This stuff is honestly great, it’s supposed to remove excess oils, purify and unclog pores and it does what it says on the tin. My skin feels and look great after I use it and my love for First Aid Beauty is continuing to grow.

Now on to two non Glam Bag beauty favorites. The first is a micro mini beauty blender, I bought this at Sephora after I got the BB concealer because I wanted something to apply it with that wasn’t a brush. And I’ve been loving it.

And my last beauty favorite is the Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo. I’ve been looking for a really good dry shampoo forever. I’ve tried a few different here and there and this has definitely been the favorite so far so I think I’m going to stick with it. It doesn’t create a bunch of buildup and it smells absolutely amazing.

Moving on, my next favorite is baking. Recently the last season of the Great British Bake Off finally came to America and I’m so glad it did because I’m totally addicted. But it definitely made me excited for fall/ winter and baking so I got a jump start and made banana bread, I did post the recipe and if you haven’t read that I’ll link it down below. But I honestly can’t wait to do some more baking.

My second to last favorite is a YouTube favorite. You guys know how much I love Robbie Williams, he’s got an album of songs that didn’t make previous albums coming out soon, it’s called Under The Radar Vol. 2. But while he’s on tour he’s releasing vlogs of tour life, called Vloggie Williams, leading up to the release of the album on his YouTube channel. I personally love watching vlogs so I think this is great and I’ve been enjoying it.

And my last favorite is a song favorite and it’s Days Like This by Van Morrison. I don’t usually listen to Van Morrison, but this song came up on one of my Pandora channels and I instantly fell in love with it. It’s truly a great song and if you haven’t heard it definitely give it a listen.

Delicious banana bread

Hi everyone,

Today I wanted to share a recipe with you. Recently I’ve been wanting to do more baking, fall is coming and it’s one of my favorite things to do. Specifically I wanted to make banana bread, so I asked on Facebook and Twitter if anyone knew of or had a good recipe and I got quite a few responses. And the one I made is the first one I was sent, but I want to try out all the recommended recipes at some point. This recipe is from the Brown Eyed Baker, and I would definitely recommend it.

What you need:

2 cups of all purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda

A pinch of salt

1 cup of granulated sugar

1/2 cup of vegetable oil

2 eggs

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

4 medium ripe bananas, mashed. Should be about 1 1/3 cups, I had slightly larger bananas so it only took 3

1 cup of coarsely chopped walnuts

What you do:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, this recipe makes two loaves, so grease and set aside two 8×4 loaf pans. Instead of greasing my pans I line them with parchment paper, and you’ll see why when I put in the picture, but make sure you even out the parchment paper.

In a medium sized bowl whisk together your flour, baking soda and salt and set that aside. In a large bowl whisk together sugar, oil, eggs and the vanilla extract. Add the bananas and gently combine. My tip for mashing the bananas is to use a potato masher, it cuts the time in half and makes it easier and if it doesn’t get all the chunks run through it with a fork. Then add the flour mixture and stir until completely combined. And finally fold in the walnuts using a rubber spatula.

Divide the mixture evenly into the two pans and bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until you can stick in a thin knife or toothpick and it comes out clean. It will be different with every oven, but it took mine the full 45 minutes. If your loaves start to get too dark on the edges before it’s done in the middle cover it with foil, I’ve done this with other recipes and it works like a charm. When you take them out of the oven let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then put them on a wire rack to cool completely.

I’m really happy with the way this turned out and it’s delicious, like I said make sure you flatten out all the sides of your parchment paper otherwise you get misshapen loaves.
