During the most recent BoxyCharm Pop Up I had a little look around and while I found quite a few things that I liked, I wanted to use this to try a brand I hadn’t tried before, so I picked up a Zoeva palette at a great price. The palette I bought is the Cocoa Blend palette.
This is a 10 pan palette with a mostly brown/neutral shade range with a couple of pops of color. You get mattes, mattes with glitter, metallic and satin finishes. This palette was inspired by a box of chocolates and you can clearly see that theme throughout. When you open it the top says ‘Selected With Love, With Superb Ingredients, For The Taste Of Temptation’. The shade names are also box of chocolate inspired.
I swatched these on my arm and did two rows of five like the layout of the palette. I noticed when swatching that all of these are really nicely pigmented shadows. The metallics are creamy and the mattes and satins go on really smooth and aren’t powdery or chalky. So the first shadow, Bitter Start, is a light matte nude. Next to that is Sweeter End, and that’s what I would call a nice satin taupe. Then there’s Warm Notes, which is a sparkly pinky red that is almost berry like, a very pretty shadow. The second to last shadow in the first row is Subtle Blend and it’s a sparkly medium brown that has gold undertones. And the last shadow in the first row is Beans Are White, a matte black shadow. On my initial swatch you could see the gray in it and it appears to be very buildable without being too harsh.
The second row starts with Pure Ganache. When I put this on my arm my reaction was ‘holy crap’ because it’s so, so pigmented, such a pretty coppery shade and when the light hits it it really shines. Next to that is Substitute For Love, a lighter brown in a satin finish. Then there’s Freshly Toasted, a matte rusty brown. The second to last shadow in this row is Infusion, which is very similar to Beans Are White, but this has multiple colors of glitter in it. And the last shadow is Delicate Acidity, this is a sparkly purple and you can tell it has a gray or maybe brownish undertone.
That about wraps it up for this post, overall I think this is a really great, versatile palette and I’m excited to try it out. If you guys have any recommendations for other Zoeva palettes I should try, please let me know.
Until next time, have fun creating different looks and you can never have too many eyeshadow palettes :).
