Father’s Day Cocktails

Hi everyone,

As Father’s Day is this weekend, I thought today would be a good time to talk about some cocktails that are perfect for the day. I have four different cocktails to tell you about, so let’s get into it.

First up we have the Gold Rush. This is super simple and really nice. And this recipe makes one drink.

What You Need:

  • 2 ounces of bourbon
  • 3/4 ounces of lemon juice
  • 3/4 ounces of honey syrup

What You Do:

  • The first thing you’re going to do is make the honey syrup and for that you take 9 ounces of wildflower honey, 3 ounces of hot water, add that into a small bottle and shake until it’s well combined.
  • Next up take your shaker and add ice. Then add the bourbon, lemon juice and honey syrup. Shake well.
  • Strain your drink into a rocks glass filled with ice.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Next up we have the Mezcal Mule. I love a Moscow Mule and this is a fun variation. And this recipe makes one drink.

What You Need:

  • 1 1/2 ounces of Sombra Mezcal
  • 1 ounce of ginger beer
  • 3/4 ounce of fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce of passion fruit puree
  • 1/2 ounce of agave nectar
  • 3 cucumber slices
  • Candied ginger, for garnish
  • Cucumber slice, for garnish
  • Chili powder, for garnish

What You Do:

  • The first thing you’re going to do is take your lime juice and cucumber slices, add them to your shaker and muddle.
  • Then add your Mezcal, ginger beer, passion fruit puree and agave nectar to the shaker, add ice and shake well.
  • Strain your drink into an ice filled rocks glass and garnish with the cucumber slice, piece of candied ginger and a pinch of chili powder.
  • Serve and enjoy!

The second to last cocktail we have is a Spicy Mango Margarita. Margarita’s are great during the summer months and the little bit of spice you get from this is nice and not overpowering. And this recipe makes one drink.

What You Need:

  • 1 1/2-2 ounces of tequila
  • 3-4 ounces of mango juice
  • 1/2 of a lime, juiced
  • 1/2 of a mango, diced
  • 1-2 fresh jalapeno slices with the seeds removed
  • 1 tablespoon of kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • Ice

What You Do:

  • The first thing you’re going to do is take a small plate, and on that add the kosher salt and chili powder together making sure to mix well. Then take the half of lime that you didn’t juice and rub it around the rim of your glass. Then take your glass and dip it in the spice mix until it’s well coated.
  • Next, add the mango, lime juice and jalapeno to your cocktail shaker and muddle. Once muddled add ice, tequila, mango juice and shake.
  • Strain your drink into an ice filled glass, garnish with additional jalapeno slices and or mango.
  • Serve and enjoy!

And the last cocktail we have is a Bourbon Sidecar. I’ve actually never had one of these before, but it’s one of those classic cocktails that just seemed perfect for Father’s Day and I’m interested to make one. This recipe makes two drinks.

What You Need:

  • 4 ounces of bourbon
  • 2 ounces of Cointreau
  • 2 ounces of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 3 inch strips of lemon zest

What You Do:

  • The first step is to take two cocktail glasses and chill them.
  • Next you’re going to take your shaker and fill it with crushed ice. Then add the bourbon, Cointreau and lemon juice.
  • Shake for about a minute then strain into your chilled cocktail glasses.
  • Garnish with a strip of lemon zest.
  • Serve and enjoy!

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys make any of these drinks I’d love to know how they turn out. And if you have any of your own Father’s Day cocktail recommendations let me know.

Until next time, have fun making drinks and I hope you have a happy Father’s Day :).
