Racing in Virginia

Hi everyone,

This week’s race took us to Richmond, Virginia for the Virginia NHRA Nationals and what a race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Clay Millican (3.74) vs #16 Dan Mercier (4.12), #2 Mike Salinas (3.75) vs #15 Cameron Ferre (3.99), #3 Brittany Force (3.77) vs #14 Audrey Worm (3.96), #4 Steve Torrence (3.77) vs #13 Todd Paton (3.92), #5 Doug Kalitta (3.78) vs #12 Scott Palmer (3.88), #6 Leah Pritchett (3.79) vs #11 Antron Brown (3.83), #7 Richie Crampton (3.79) vs #10 Austin Prock (3.82) and #8 Terry McMillen (3.81) vs #9 Billy Torrence (3.81). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Clay Millican (3.81) and Billy Torrence (3.98), Steve Torrence (3.84) and Scott Palmer (3.86), Mike Salinas (3.81) and Austin Prock (3.86) and Brittany Force (4.32) and Antron Brown (3.87). The semifinals were Billy Torrence (3.91) vs Steve Torrence (3.87) and Mike Salinas (3.83) vs Antron Brown (4.44). The finals featured Steve Torrence (3.85) and the Capco team and Antron Brown (4.84) and the Matco Tools team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (3.88). This is Steve’s third win this season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 John Force (3.89) vs #16 Jeff Diehl (5.61), #2 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.92) vs #15 Terry Haddock (4.17), #3 Ron Capps (3.92) vs #14 Jim Campbell (4.08), #4 JR Todd (3.96) vs #13 Bob Tasca (4.04), #5 Shawn Langdon (3.96) vs #12 Tim Wilkerson (4.02), #6 Robert Hight (3.96) vs #11 Cruz Pedregon (4.01), #7 Matt Hagan (3.99) vs #10 Jack Beckman (4.00) and #8 Jonnie Lindberg (4.00) vs #9 Blake Alexander (4.00). The winners and who they would face in the second round were John Force (4.00) and Jonnie Lindberg (4.08), JR Todd (4.07) and Shawn Langdon (4.03), Tommy Johnson Jr (4.02) and Jack Beckman (4.64) and Ron Capps (3.99) and Robert Hight (4.01). The semifinals were Jonnie Lindberg (4.15) vs JR Todd (4.04) and Tommy Johnson Jr (5.35) vs Ron Capps (6.17). The finals featured JR Todd (4.04) and the DHL team and Ron Capps (4.21) and the NAPA Auto Parts team. With the winner being Ron Capps (4.09). This is Ron’s second win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Jason Line (6.56) vs #16 Val Smeland (6.95), #2 Deric Kramer (6.56) vs #15 Fernando Cuadra Jr (6.84), #3 Bo Butner (6.57) vs #14 Wally Stroupe (6.76), #4 Erica Enders (6.57) vs #13 Kenny Delco (6.68), #5 Greg Anderson (6.57) vs #12 Shane Tucker (6.64), #6 Matt Hartford (6.57) vs #11 Chris McGaha (6.60), #7 Jeg Coughlin (6.57) vs #10 Fernando Cuadra (6.59) and #8 Alex Laughlin (6.58) and #9 Rodger Brogdon (6.58). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Jason Line (6.61) and Alex Laughlin (6.62), Erica Enders (6.63) and Greg Anderson (6.61), Fernando Cuadra Jr (6.83) and Jeg Coughlin (6.61) and Bo Butner (6.62) and Chris McGaha (6.60). The semifinals were Alex Laughlin (6.64) vs Greg Anderson (6.62) and Jeg Coughlin (6.62) vs Bo Butner (6.62). The finals featured Greg Anderson (6.60) and the Summit Racing Equipment team and Bo Butner (6.60) and the Jim Butner Auto team. With the winner being Bo Butner (6.59). This is Bo’s fourth win this season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Andrew Hines (6.81) vs #16 Jianna Salinas (7.33), #2 Eddie Krawiec (6.82) vs #15 Kelly Clontz (7.02), #3 Hector Arana Jr (6.82) vs #14 Cory Reed (6.96), #4 Matt Smith (6.84) vs #13 Scotty Pollacheck (6.94), #5 Angelle Sampey (6.85) vs #12 John Hall (6.91), #6 Hector Arana (6.87) vs #11 Joey Gladstone (6.89), #7 Karen Stoffer (6.87) vs #10 Steve Johnson (6.89) and #8 Angie Smith (6.88) vs #9 Ryan Oehler (6.89). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Andrew Hines (6.85) and Ryan Oehler (6.92), Matt Smith (6.81) and Angelle Sampey (6.85), Eddie Krawiec (6.85) and Karen Stoffer (6.95) and Hector Arana Jr (6.90) and Joey Gladstone (7.00). The semifinals were Andrew Hines (6.87) vs Matt Smith (6.83) and Eddie Krawiec (6.85) vs Hector Arana Jr (6.88). The finals featured Andrew Hines (6.83) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team and Eddie Krawiec (6.86) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team. With the winner being Andrew Hines (6.84). This is Andrew’s fourth win of the season.

The next race will be the Route 66 NHRA Nationals, May 30- June 2 in Chicago, Illinois.
