Racing in Pomona- Finals edition

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Pomona, California for the Auto Club NHRA Finals and what an emotion filled and crazy race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Leah Pritchett (3.63) vs #16 Bill Litton (3.98), #2 Steve Torrence (3.66) vs #15 Cameron Ferre (3.92), #3 Brittany Force (3.66) vs #14 Shawn Reed (3.80), #4 Clay Millican (3.68) vs #13 Terry McMillen (3.79), #5 Blake Alexander (3.69) vs #12 Mike Salinas (3.76), #6 Antron Brown (3.70) vs #11 Doug Kalitta (3.74), #7 Billy Torrence (3.71) vs #10 Richie Crampton (3.72) and #8 Tony Schumacher (3.72) vs #9 Scott Palmer (3.72). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Bill Litton (3.97) and Tony Schumacher (3.69), Clay Millican (3.74) and Blake Alexander (3.70), Steve Torrence (3.99) and Billy Torrence (3.70) and Brittany Force (3.70) and Antron Brown (3.72). The semifinals were Tony Schumacher (4.66) vs Blake Alexander (3.74) and Steve Torrence (3.67) vs Brittany Force (3.68). The finals featured Tony Schumacher (3.70) and the US Army team and Steve Torrence (3.70) and the Capco team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (3.70). This is Steve’s eleventh win this season, but he swept the Countdown, which is an incredible feat.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Ron Capps (3.84) vs #16 Ray Martin (4.18), #2 Jack Beckman (3.86) vs #15 Jeff Arend (4.11), #3  Tommy Johnson Jr (3.86) vs #14 Cruz Pedregon (4.06), #4 JR Todd (3.89) vs #13 Jim Campbell (4.00), #5 Robert Hight (3.91) vs #12 Bob Tasca (3.99), #6 Courtney Force (3.92) vs #11 Bob Bode (3.98), #7 Tim Wilkerson (3.93) vs #10 John Force (3.97) and #8 Matt Hagan (3.94) vs #9 Shawn Langdon (3.95). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Ron Capps (3.90) and Shawn Langdon (3.91), JR Todd (3.93) and Bob Tasca (3.98), Jack Beckman (4.91) and John Force (3.95) and Tommy Johnson Jr (3.90) and Courtney Force (3.94). The semifinals were Ron Capps (3.92) vs JR Todd (3.95) and Jack Beckman (3.93) vs Tommy Johnson Jr (3.91). The finals featured JR Todd (3.88) and the DHL team and Tommy Johnson Jr (3.91) and the Make-A-Wish team. With the winner being JR Todd (3.87). This is JR’s fifth win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Jeg Coughlin (6.51) vs #16 Kenny Delco (6.59), #2 Jason Line (6.52) vs #15 Vincent Nobile (6.58), #3 Erica Enders (6.53) vs #14 Deric Kramer (6.57), #4 Drew Skillman (6.53) vs #13 Alan Prusiensky (6.56), #5 Greg Anderson (6.53) vs #12 Fernando Cuadra (6.56), #6 Tanner Gray (6.53) vs #11 Shane Gray (6.56), #7 Alex Laughlin (6.54) vs #10 Chris McGaha (6.56) and #8 Matt Hartford (6.54) vs #9 Bo Butner (6.55). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Jeg Coughlin (6.51) and Bo Butner (6.52), Drew Skillman (6.51) and Greg Anderson (6.52), Jason Line (6.51) and Alex Laughlin (6.55) and Erica Enders (6.51) and Tanner Gray (6.53). The semifinals were Jeg Coughlin (6.52) vs Drew Skillman (6.53) and Jason Line (6.53) vs Tanner Gray (6.56). The finals featured Drew Skillman (6.53) and the Ray Skillman Chevrolet team and Tanner Gray (6.53) and the Gray Motorsports team. With the winner being Tanner Gray (6.51). This is Tanner’s eighth win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Matt Smith (6.75) vs #16 Angie Smith (6.96), #2 Hector Arana Jr (6.78) vs #15 Freddie Camarena (6.95), #3 Eddie Krawiec (6.78) vs #14 Karen Stoffer (6.95), #4 Andrew Hines (6.82) vs #13 Steve Johnson (6.89), #5 LE Tonglet (6.82) vs #12 Ryan Oehler (6.89), #6 Jerry Savoie (6.83) vs #11 Joey Gladstone (6.88), #7 Angelle Sampey (6.83) vs #10 Scotty Pollacheck (6.87) and #8 Hector Arana (6.86) vs #9 Chip Ellis (6.86). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Matt Smith (8.36) and Hector Arana (6.87), Andrew Hines (6.82) and LE Tonglet (6.84), Hector Arana Jr (6.82) and Angelle Sampey (6.86) and Eddie Krawiec (6.80) and Jerry Savoie (6.83). The semifinals were Matt Smith (6.79) vs LE Tonglet (6.86) and Hector Arana Jr (6.94) vs Eddie Krawiec (6.79). The finals featured Matt Smith (6.76) and the Polaris Victory Magnum team and Eddie Krawiec (6.86) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team. With the winner being Matt Smith (6.76). This is Matt’s fourth win of the season.
