Racing in Texas

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Dallas, Texas for the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, the third race in the Countdown and what a race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Clay Millican (3.72) vs #16 Richie Crampton (3.94), #2 Steve Torrence (3.74) vs #15 Bill Litton (3.90), #3 Tony Schumacher (3.74) vs #14 Shawn Reed (3.88), #4 Terry McMillen (3.77), #5 Brittany Force (3.78) vs #12 Scott Palmer (3.82), #6 Doug Kalitta (3.78) vs #11 Antron Brown (3.81), #7 Blake Alexander (3.79) vs #10 Billy Torrence (3.80) and #8 Kebin Kinsley (3.80) vs #9 Leah Pritchett (3.80). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Clay Millican (3.74) and Leah Pritchett (3.83), Terry McMillen (3.80) and Brittany Force (3.76), Steve Torrence (3.76) and Blake Alexander (3.75) and Tony Schumacher (3.74) and Antron Brown (3.77). The semifinals were Clay Millican (3.78) vs Terry McMillen (3.81) and Steve Torrence (3.80) vs Tony Schumacher (3.81). The finals featured Terry McMillen (3.81) and the Amalie Motor Oil team and Steve Torrence (3.77) and the Capco team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (3.78). This is Steve’s eighth win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.91) vs #16 Terry Haddock (5.14), #2 Bob Tasca (3.95) vs #15 Matt Hagan (4.16), #3 Tim Wilkerson (3.95) vs #14 Jeff Diehl (4.14), #4 JR Todd (3.96) vs #13 John Hale (4.10), #5 Jack Beckman (3.96) vs #12 Courtney Force (4.07), #6 Robert Hight (3.97) vs #11 Jim Campbell (4.05), #7 Ron Capps (3.98) vs #10 John Force (4.04) and #8 Cruz Pedregon (4.99) vs #9 Shawn Langdon (4.00). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Tommy Johnson Jr (3.98) and Cruz Pedregon (4.01), JR Todd (3.98) and Jack Beckman (3.96), Bob Tasca (3.99) and John Force (3.98) and Tim Wilkerson (4.00) and Robert Hight (3.94). The semifinals were Tommy Johnson Jr (3.93) vs JR Todd (3.99) and Bob Tasca (4.02) vs Robert Hight (3.95). The finals featured JR Todd (3.95) and the DHL team and Robert Hight (3.96) and the AAA team. With the winner being Rober Hight (3.95). This is Robert’s fourth win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Jeg Coughlin (6.59) vs #16 Val Smeland (6.74), #2 Greg Anderson (6.60) vs #15 Alan Prusiensky (6.66), #3 Jason Line (6.60) vs #14 Kenny Delco (6.65), #4 Vincent Nobile (6.60) vs #13 Fernando Cuadra (6.64), #5 Erica Enders (6.61) vs #12 Chris McGaha (6.60), #6 Alex Laughlin (6.61) vs #11 Matt Hartford (6.62), #7 Tanner Gray (6.61) vs #10 Deric Kramer (6.62) and #8 Drew Skillman (6.61) vs #9 Bo Butner (6.61). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Jeg Coughlin (6.62) and Drew Skillman (6.61), Vincent Nobile (6.60) and Erica Enders (6.60), Greg Anderson (6.62) and Tanner Gray (6.62) and Kenny Delco (6.64) and Matt Hartford (6.63). The semifinals were Jeg Coughlin (6.61) vs Vincent Nobile (6.63). And Tanner Gray (6.63) vs Matt Hartford (6.63). The finals featured Jeg Coughlin (6.61) and the JEGS team and Tanner Gray (9.69) and the Gray Motorsports team. With the winner being Tanner Gray (6.62). This is Tanner’s seventh with of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Eddie Krawiec (6.87) vs #16 Anthony Vanetti (7.16), #2 Matt Smith (6.87) vs #15 Karen Stoffer (7.01), #3 Hector Arana Jr (6.88) vs #14 Kelly Clontz (6.98), #4 Angelle Sampey (6.90) vs #13 Scotty Pollacheck (6.95), #5 LE Tonglet (6.91) vs #12 Andrew Hines (6.95), #6 Steve Johnson (6.92) vs #11 Hector Arana (6.94), #7 Jerry Savoie (6.93) vs #10 Joey Gladstone (6.94) and #8 Angie Smith (6.93) vs #9 Ryan Oehler (6.93). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Eddie Krawiec (6.89) and Angie Smith (6.93), Angelle Sampey (6.91) and LE Tonglet (6.89), Karen Stoffer (7.04) and Jerry Savoie (6.94) and Kelly Clontz (7.19) and Steve Johnson (6.97). The semifinals were Eddie Krawiec (6.91) vs LE Tonglet (6.90) and Jerry Savoie (7.01) vs Steve Johnson (6.94). The finals featured LE Tonglet (6.88) and the Nitro Fish team and Jerry Savoie (6.92) and the White Alligator Racing team. With the winner being LE Tonglet (6.89). This is LE’s fourth win of the season.

The next race will be the NHRA Carolina Nationals October 12-14 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Race number four in the Countdown.
