This weeks race took us to Sonoma, California for the Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals and what a race it was. Before we start, my computer crashed and deleted some files, so I only have bits and pieces from the race. But not round by round numbers like I normally do so I apologize for that.
So, starting with Top Fuel, the number one qualifier was Clay Millican. The finals featured Tony Schumacher and the US Army team and Blake Alexander and the Pronto Auto Parts team. With the winner being Blake Alexander. This is Blake’s second win of the season.
Next we have Funny Car, the number one qualifier was Courtney Force. The finals featured Ron Capps and the NAPA Auto Parts team and Robert Hight and the AAA team. With the winner being Robert Hight. This is Robert’s second win of the season.
Moving on we have Pro Stock, the number one qualifier was Greg Anderson. The finals featured Jeg Coughlin and the JEGS team and Deric Kramer and the American Ethanol team. With the winner being Jeg Coughlin. This is Jeg’s third win of the season.
And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where I want to congratulate Matt Smith for winning the Mickey Thompson Tires Pro Bike Battle and $25,000. The number one qualifier was Eddie Krawiec, who ran 200.08 mph and is now is the Denso Spark Plugs 200 MPH Club. The finals featured LE Tonglet and the Nitro Fish team and Andrew Hines and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team. With the winner being LE Tonglet. This is LE’s second win of the season.
Those who have clinched a spot in the Countdown are;
Steve Torrence, Tony Schumacher, Clay Millican, Leah Pritchett, Doug Kalitta
Courtney Force, Ron Capps, Robert Hight, Matt Hagan
Pro Stock Motorcycle:
Andrew Hines, Eddie Krawiec, LE Tonglet, Hector Arana Jr, Jerry Savoie
The next race will be the CatSpot NHRA Northwest Nationals August 3-5 in Seattle, Washington and the conclusion of the Western Swing.
Until next time, congrats to all the winners and I can’t wait for the next race :).
