Racing in Ohio

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Norwalk, Ohio for the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals and what a race it was.

With shortened qualifying due to rain, the ladder looked like this; #1 Clay Millican (3.75) vs #16 Dom Lagana (5.03), #2 Brittany Force (3.77) vs #15 Terry McMillen (4.38), #3 Steve Torrence (3.78) vs #14 Chris Karamesines (4.09), #4 Tony Schumacher (3.79) vs #13 Kyle Wurtzel (4.03), #5 Antron Brown (3.80) vs #12 Blake Alexander (3.98), #6 Mike Salinas (3.81) vs #11 Luigi Novelli (3.97), #7 Pat Dakin (3.83) vs #10 Richie Crampton (3.88) and #8 Leah Pritchett (3.83) vs #9 Doug Kalitta (3.84). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Clay Millican (3.75) and Leah Pritchett (3.79), Tony Schumacher (3.80) and Blake Alexander (3.80), Terry McMillen (3.81) and Richie Crampton (3.80) and Steve Torrence (3.80) and Mike Salinas (3.88). The semifinals were Leah Pritchett (3.78) vs Blake Alexander (3.79) and Terry McMillen (3.79) vs Steve Torrence (4.02). The finals featured Blake Alexander (3.79) and the Pronto Auto Parts team and Terry McMillen (3.85) and the Amalie Motor Oil team. With the winner being Blake Alexander (4.01). This is Blake’s first career win and first win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where Cruz Pedregon did not qualify, and the ladder looked like this; #1 Courtney Force (3.93) vs #16 John Smith (4.30), #2 Ron Capps (3.96) vs #15 Jeff Diehl (4.25), #3 Matt Hagan (3.98) vs #14 Tommy Johnson Jr (4.20), #4 John Force (3.99) vs #13 Jim Campbell (4.19), #5 Robert Hight (4.01) vs #12 Dale Creasy Jr (4.14), #6 Tim Wilkerson (4.03) vs #11 Jack Beckman (4.10), #7 JR Todd (4.04) vs #10 Bob Tasca (4.06) and #8 Shawn Langdon (4.05) vs #9 Del Worsham (4.05). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Courtney Force (3.99) and Shawn Langdon (4.04), John Force (4.06) and Robert Hight (3.99), Ron Capps (4.03) and JR Todd (4.01) and Matt Hagan (3.99) and Jack Beckman (4.04). The semifinals were Courtney Force (3.97) vs John Force (4.08) and JR Todd (4.00) vs Matt Hagan (4.01). The finals featured Courtney Force (4.00) and the Advanced Auto Parts team and Matt Hagan (3.98) and the MOPAR team. With the winner being Matt Hagan (4.09). This is Matt’s second win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Jeg Coughlin (6.61) vs #16 Charlie Westcott (6.96), #2 Jason Line (6.62) vs #15 Kenny Delco (6.95), #3 Matt Hartford (6.62) vs #14 Wally Stroupe (6.84), #4 Bo Butner (6.63) vs #13 John Gaydosh (6.78), #5 Vincent Nobile (6.63) vs #12 Deric Kramer (6.64), #6 Tanner Gray (6.63) vs #11 Chris McGaha (6.64), #7 Greg Anderson (6.63) vs #10 Drew Skillman (6.64) and #8 Alex Laughlin (6.64) vs #9 Erica Enders (6.64). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Jeg Coughlin (6.58) and Erica Enders (6.63), Bo Butner (6.62) and Vincent Nobile (6.61), Jason Line (6.59) and Drew Skillman (6.60) and Matt Hartford (6.75) and Tanner Gray (6.60). The semifinals were Erica Enders (6.63) vs Bo Butner (6.67) and Drew Skillman (6.61) vs Tanner Gray (6.60). The finals featured Erica Enders (6.63) and the Elite Motorsports team and Tanner Gray (6.61) and the Gray Motorsports team. With the winner being Tanner Gray (6.61). This is Tanner’s third win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Matt Smith (6.86) vs #16 Jim Underdahl (7.02), #2 Hector Arana Jr (6.87) vs #15 Ryan Oehler (7.01), #3 Angelle Sampey (6.89) vs #14 Joey Gladstone (7.00), #4 Andrew Hines (6.91) vs #13 Scotty Pollacheck (6.97), #5 Jerry Savoie (6.91) vs #12 Hector Arana (6.97), #6 Eddie Krawiec (6.91) vs #11 Cory Reed (6.95), #7 LE Tonglet (6.92) vs #10 Mark Paquette (6.94) and #8 Steve Johnson (6.92) vs #9 Angie Smith (6.93). This winners and who they would face in the second round were Jim Underdahl (6.92) and Angie Smith (6.93), Andrew Hines (6.95) and Jerry Savoie (6.89), Hector Arana Jr (6.86) and LE Tonglet (6.90) and Angelle Sampey (6.90) and Eddie Krawiec (6.90). The semifinals were Angie Smith (6.97) vs Jerry Savoie (6.91) and LE Tonglet (6.94) vs Eddie Krawiec (6.88). The finals featured Jerry Savoie (7.18) and the White Alligator Racing team and Eddie Krawiec (6.86) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team. With the winner being Eddie Krawiec (6.92). This is Eddie’s third win of the season.

The next race will be the NHRA New England Nationals July 6-8 in Epping, New Hampshire.
