Racing in Tennessee

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Bristol, Tennessee for the Fitzgerald USA NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals and what a great race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Clay Millican (3.81) vs #16 Terry Totten (6.89), #2 Tony Schumacher (3.83) vs #15 Terry McMillen (4.72), #3 Antron Brown (3.83) vs #14 Richie Crampton (4.62), #4 Scott Palmer (3.86) vs #13 Bill Litton (4.11), #5 Brittany Force (3.87) vs #12 Doug Kalitta (4.09), #6 Steve Torrence (3.87) vs #11 Shawn Reed (4.01), #7 Dom Lagana (3.88) vs #10 Pat Dakin (4.00) and #8 Mike Salinas (3.91) vs #9 Leah Pritchett (4.00). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Clay Millican (4.01) and Mike Salinas  (4.02), Scott Palmer (4.01) and Doug Kalitta (3.99), Tony Schumacher (3.91) and Pat Dakin (4.01) and Antron Brown (3.89) and Steve Torrence (3.97). The semifinals were Mike Salinas (4.03) vs Scott Palmer (4.06) and Tony Schumacher (4.02) vs Steve Torrence (4.23). The finals featured Mike Salinas (4.04) and the Scrappers Racing team, his first final, and Tony Schumacher (4.03) and the US Army team. With the winner being Tony Schumacher (3.94). This is Tony’s first win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Courtney Force (3.99) vs #16 Jonnie Lindberg (4.77), #2 JR Todd (4.07) vs #15 Del Worsham (4.33), #3 Robert Hight (4.07) vs #14 Jeff Diehl (4.29), #4 Bob Tasca (4.07) vs #13 Tim Wilkerson (4.26), #5 Cruz Pedregon (4.10) vs #12 Jim Campbell (4.21), #6 John Force (4.11) vs #11 Ron Capps (4.19), #7 Jack Beckman (4.13) vs #10 Shawn Langdon (4.19) and #8 Tommy Johnson Jr (4.16) vs #9 Matt Hagan (4.18). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Courtney Force (4.16) and Tommy Johnson Jr (4.25), Bob Tasca (4.13) and Cruz Pedregon (4.58), JR Todd (4.21) and Jack Beckman (4.28) and Robert Hight (4.75) and Ron Capps (4.24). The semifinals were Courtney Force (4.19) vs Bob Tasca (4.23) and JR Todd (4.20) vs Ron Capps (4.20). The finals featured Bob Tasca (4.21) and the Ford team and Ron Capps (4.24) and the NAPA Auto Parts team. With the winner being Ron Capps (4.23). This is Ron’s first win of the season and the first DSR double up of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Greg Anderson (6.67) vs #16 Wally Stroupe (7.55), #2 Jeg Coughlin (6.68) vs Tommy Lee (7.01), #3 Drew Skillman (6.68) vs #14 Alan Prusiensky (6.86), #4 Tanner Gray (6.68) vs #13 John Gaydosh (6.80), #5 Alex Laughlin (6.69) vs #12 Tim Freeman (6.74), #6 Jason Line (6.70) vs #11 Erica Enders (6.71), #7 Deric Kramer (6.70) vs #10 Chris McGaha (6.70) and #8 Vincent Nobile (6.70) vs #9 Bo Butner (6.70). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Greg Anderson (6.71) and Vincent Nobile (6.73), Tanner Gray (6.75) and Tim Freeman (6.78), Jeg Coughlin (6.71) and Chris McGaha (6.73) and Drew Skillman (6.71) and Erica Enders (6.72). The semifinals were Greg Anderson (6.72) vs Tanner Gray (6.78) and Jeg Coughlin (6.74) vs Drew Skillman (6.72). The finals featured Greg Anderson (6.76) and the Summit Racing Equipment team and Jeg Coughlin (6.75) and the JEGS team. With the winner being Jeg Coughlin (6.70). This is Jeg’s second win of the season.

The next race will be the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals June 21-24 in Norwalk, Ohio.
