Racing in Chicago

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Chicago, Illinois for the JEGS Route 66 NHRA Nationals and what a race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Steve Torrence (3.67) vs #16 Luigi Novelli (3.98), #2 Brittany Force (3.72) vs #15 Kyle Wurtzel (3.97), #3 Tony Schumacher (3.74) vs #14 Billy Torrence (3.90), #4 Clay Millican (3.75) vs #13 Pat Dakin (3.84), #5 TJ Zizzo (3.77) vs #12 Scott Palmer (3.83), #6 Blake Alexander (3.78) vs #11 Richie Crampton (3.81), #7 Antron Brown (3.78) vs #10 Leah Pritchett (3.79) and #8 Doug Kalitta (3.78) vs #9 Terry McMillen (3.79). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Luigi Novelli (4.00) and Doug Kalitta (3.97), Clay Millican (3.75) and Scott Palmer (3.78), Kyle Wurtzel (3.92) and Leah Pritchett (3.76) and Billy Torrence (3.78) and Blake Alexander (3.77). The semifinals were Doug Kalitta (3.93) vs Clay Millican (3.96) and Leah Pritchett (3.92) vs Blake Alexander (3.83). The finals featured Clay Millican (3.78) and the Great Clips/Parts Plus team and Leah Pritchett (3.83) and the Papa Johns team. With the winner being Clay Millican (3.89). This is Clay’s second win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Matt Hagan (3.91) vs #16 Jonnie Lindberg (4.46), #2 Ron Capps (3.92) vs #15 Justin Schriefer (4.15), #3 Jack Beckman (3.94) vs #14 Dale Creasy Jr (4.11), #4 Courtney Force (3.96) vs #13 Jim Campbell (4.08), #5 Cruz Pedregon (3.96) vs #12 Robert Hight (4.07), #6 John Force (3.97) vs #11 Tim Wilkerson (4.05), #7 Shawn Langdon (3.98) vs #10 Tommy Johnson Jr (4.01) and #8 Bob Tasca (3.98) vs #9 JR Todd (4.00). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Matt Hagan (4.01) and Bob Tasca (4.02), Courtney Force (4.10) and Robert Hight (4.35), Ron Capps (4.09) and Shawn Langdon (4.47) and Jack Beckman (4.21) and John Force (4.05). The semifinals were Bob Tasca (4.08) vs Robert Hight (4.06) and Ron Capps (4.10) vs John Force (4.20). The finals featured Robert Hight (4.07) and the AAA team and Ron Capps (4.05) and the NAPA Auto Parts team. With the winner being Robert Hight (4.07). This is Robert’s first win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Greg Anderson (6.54) vs #16 Dave River (6.95), #2 Tanner Gray (6.55) vs #15 Wally Stroupe (6.81), #3 Matt Hartford (6.55) vs #14 Mark Hogan (6.80), #4 Jason Line (6.56) vs #13 Tim Freeman (6.62), #5 Vincent Nobile (6.56) vs #12 Chris McGaha (6.60), #6 Jeg Coughlin (6.57) vs #11 Alex Laughlin (6.58), #7 Erica Enders (6.58) vs #10 Drew Skillman (6.58) and #8 Deric Kramer (6.58) vs #9 Bo Butner (6.58). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Greg Anderson (6.57) and Deric Kramer (6.58), Jason Line (6.57) and Vincent Nobile (6.57), Tanner Gray (6.57) and Erica Enders (6.58) and Matt Hartford (6.57) and Jeg Coughlin (6.56). The semifinals were Greg Anderson (6.61) vs Vincent Nobile (6.58) and Tanner Gray (6.60) vs Jeg Coughlin (6.56). The finals featured Greg Anderson (6.60) and the Summit Racing Equipment team and Jeg Coughlin (6.57) and the JEGS team. With the winner being Jeg Coughlin (6.57). This is Jeg’s first win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Andrew Hines (6.84) vs #16 Cory Reed (7.03), #2 Hector Arana Jr (6.85) vs #15 Marc Ingwersen (7.02), #3 Eddie Krawiec (6.86) vs #14 Kelly Clontz (7.00), #4 Matt Smith (6.87) vs #13 Steve Johnson (6.98), #5 Jerry Savoie (6.88) vs #12 Jim Underdahl (6.97), #6 LE Tonglet (6.89) vs #11 Scotty Pollacheck (6.96), #7 Angie Smith (6.92) vs #10 Joey Gladstone (6.96) and #8 Hector Arana (6.93) vs #9 Ryan Oehler (6.94). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Andrew Hines (6.80) and Ryan Oehler (6.91), Matt Smith (6.78) and Jim Underdahl (6.88), Hector Arana Jr (6.83) and Angie Smith (6.82) and Eddie Krawiec (6.81) and LE Tonglet (6.82). The semifinals were Andrew Hines (6.81) vs Matt Smith (6.78) and Hector Arana Jr (6.79) vs LE Tonglet (6.80). The finals featured Matt Smith (6.79) and the Polaris Victory Magnum team and LE Tonglet (6.81) and the Nitrofish team. With the winner being Matt Smith (6.81). This is Matt’s first win of the season.

The next race will be the NHRA Virgina Nationals June 8-10 in Richmond, Virgina.
