Racing in Georgia

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Atlanta, Georgia for the Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals, and what a great race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Clay Millican (3.75) vs #16 Audrey Worm (6.07), #2 Brittany Force (3.76) vs #15 Terry McMillen (4.88), #3 Steve Torrence (3.78) vs #14 Terry Haddock (4.21), #4 Leah Pritchett (3.78) vs #13 Pat Dakin (3.97), #5 Tony Schumacher (3.79) vs #12 Bill Litton (3.90), #6 Doug Kalitta (3.80) vs #11 Richie Crampton (3.87), #7 Antron Brown (3.80) vs #10 Blake Alexander (3.84) and #8 Mike Salinas (3.81) vs #9 Scott Palmer (3.83). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Clay Millican (3.83) and Mike Salinas (3.78), Leah Pritchett (3.90) and Bill Litton (3.91), Brittany Force (3.77) and Blake Alexander (3.82) and Steve Torrence (3.80) and Doug Kalitta (3.84). The semifinals were Mike Salinas (4.12) vs Leah Pritchett (3.84) and Blake Alexander (4.12) vs Steve Torrence (3.97). The finals featured Leah Pritchett (3.90) and the FireAde team and Blake Alexander (3.97) and the Pronto Auto Parts team. With the winner being Leah Pritchett (3.87). This is Leah’s first win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Courtney Force (3.93) vs #16 Jeff Diehl (4.85), #2 Robert Hight (3.95) vs #15 Bob Tasca (4.60), #3 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.96) vs #14 Jim Campbell (4.15), #4 Cruz Pedregon (3.96) vs #13 John Smith (4.15), #5 John Force (3.97) vs #12 Ron Capps (4.10), #6 Jonnie Lindberg (4.00) vs #11 Matt Hagan (4.05), #7 JR Todd (4.01) vs #10 Jack Beckman (4.03) and #8 Tim Wilkerson (4.02) vs #9 Shawn Langdon (4.03). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Courtney Force (4.58) and Tim Wilkerson (4.18), Cruz Pedregon (4.00) and Ron Capps (4.39), Bob Tasca (4.54) and Jack Beckman (4.41) and Tommy Johnson Jr (4.16) and Matt Hagan (4.10). The semifinals were Courtney Force (4.14) vs Cruz Pedregon (4.11) and Jack Beckman (4.14) vs Matt Hagan (4.20). The finals featured Courtney Force (4.03) and the Advanced Auto Parts team and Matt Hagan (4.11) and the MOPAR team. With the winner being Courtney Force (4.04). This is Courtney’s second win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Greg Anderson (6.58) vs #16 Val Smeland (7.22), #2 Drew Skillman (6.59) vs #15 Wally Stroupe (6.83), #3 Tanner Gray (6.59) vs #14 Kenny Delco (6.72), #4 Chris McGaha (6.60) vs #13 John Gaydosh (6.62), #5 Vincent Nobile (6.60) vs #12 Alan Prusiensky (6.68), #6 Jeg Coughlin (6.60) vs #11 Erica Enders (6.65), #7 Alex Laughlin (6.60) vs #10 Bo Butner (6.62) and #8 Jason Line (6.61) vs #9 Deric Kramer (6.61). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Greg Anderson (7.79) and Deric Kramer (6.61), Chris McGaha (6.59) and Vincent Nobile (6.58), Drew Skillman (6.58) and Bo Butner (6.61) and Tanner Gray (6.62) and Jeg Coughlin (6.59). The semifinals were Greg Anderson (6.63) vs Vincent Nobile (6.61) and Drew Skillman (6.62) vs Tanner Gray (6.63). The finals featured Vincent Nobile (6.61) and the Mountain View Tire team and Tanner Gray (6.62) and the Gray Motorsports team. With the winner being Vincent Nobile (6.59). This is Vincent’s second win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Hector Arana Jr (6.80) vs #16 Ryan Oehler (6.95), #2 Hector Arana (6.85) vs #15 Karen Stoffer (6.95), #3 Andrew Hines (6.86) vs #14 Joey Gladstone (6.95), #4 LE Tonglet (6.87) vs #13 Angie Smith (6.94), #5 Eddie Krawiec (6.87) vs #12 Melissa Surber (6.94), #6 Matt Smith (6.88) vs #11 Angelle Sampey (6.93), #7 Cory Reed (6.88) vs #10 Scotty Pollacheck (6.90) and #8 Jerry Savoie (6.89) vs #9 Steve Johnson (6.89). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Hector Arana Jr (6.81) and Jerry Savoie (6.93), LE Tonglet (6.90) and Eddie Krawiec (6.87), Hector Arana (6.97) and Scotty Pollacheck (6.93) and Andrew Hines (6.91) and Angelle Sampey (7.17). The semifinals were Hector Arana Jr (6.86) vs Eddie Krawiec (6.87) and Scotty Pollacheck (6.89) vs Angelle Sampey (6.93). The finals featured Eddie Krawiec (6.87) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team and Scotty Pollacheck (6.96) and the Suzuki Extended Protection team. With the winner being Eddie Krawiec (6.92). This is Eddie’s second win of the season.

The next race will be the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals May 18-20 in Topeka, Kansas.
