Racing in North Carolina: Four- Wide edition

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Charlotte, North Carolina for the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals and what an exciting race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the quads looked like this; #1 Brittany Force (3.68), #8 Shawn Reed (3.83), #9 Scott Palmer (3.84) and #16 Audrey Worm (4.14). Quad #2; #4 Steve Torrence (3.73), #5 Terry McMillen (3.74), #12 Pat Dakin (3.90), and #13 Kyle Wurtzel (3.90). Quad #3; #2 Tony Schumacher (3.69), #7 Clay Millican (3.77), #10 Dom Lagana (3.84), and #15 Leah Pritchett (4.00). Quad #4; #3 Antron Brown (3.71), #6 Doug Kalitta (3.75), #11 Mike Salinas (3.88) and #14 Richie Crampton (3.93). The semifinals were Shawn Reed (4.04) vs Audrey Worm (4.23) vs Steve Torrence (3.70) vs Terry McMillen (4.45) and Dom Lagana (3.83) vs Clay Millican (4.37) vs Doug Kalitta (3.76) vs Mike Salinas (4.08). The finals featured Terry McMillen (3.85) and the Amalie Motor Oil team vs Steve Torrence (3.87) and the Capco team vs Doug Kalitta (3.80) and the Mac Tools team vs Clay Millican (3.87) and the Great Clips/Parts Plus team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (3.81) followed by Doug Kalitta (4.01), Terry McMillen (4.36) and Clay Millican (5.29). This is Steve’s third win of the season.

Next up we have Funny Car, where the quads looked like this; #1 Courtney Force (3.87), #8 John Force (3.93), #9 Tim Wilkerson (3.94) and #16 Jim Campbell (4.13). Quad #2; #4 JR Todd (3.88), #5 Bob Tasca (3.90), #12 Shawn Langdon (3.97) and #13 Jack Beckman (3.98). Quad #3; #2 Ron Capps (3.88), #7 Robert Hight (3.92), #10 Jonnie Lindberg (3.96) and #15 Dale Creasy Jr (4.08). Quad #4; #3 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.88), #6 Cruz Pedregon (3.90), #11 Matt Hagan (3.96) and #14 John Smith (4.08). The semifinals were Courtney Force (3.97) vs John Force (4.30) vs JR Todd (4.03) vs Jack Beckman (4.42) and Robert Hight (4.56) vs Ron Capps (4.58) vs Cruz Pedregon (4.15) vs Tommy Johnson Jr (4.37). The finals featured John Force (4.10) and the Peak Antifreeze team vs Courtney Force (4.11) and the Advanced Auto Parts team vs Cruz Pedregon (4.05) and the Snap On team vs Tommy Johnson Jr (4.00) and the Make-A-Wish team. With the winner being Cruz Pedregon (4.05) followed by John Force (4.09), Tommy Johnson Jr (4.14) and Courtney Force (6.21). This is Cruz’s first win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the quads looked like this; #1 Drew Skillman (6.53), #8 Erica Enders (6.56), #9 Jason Line (6.56) and #16 Val Smeland (6.65). Quad #2; #4 Bo Butner (6.55), #5 Deric Kramer (6.55), #12 Alex Laughlin (6.57) and #13 John Gaydosh (6.61). Quad #3; #2 Greg Anderson (6.54), #7 Tanner Gray (6.56), #10 Chris McGaha (6.56) and #15 Kenny Delco (6.63). Quad #4; #3 Vincent Nobile (6.54), #6 Jeg Coughlin (6.55), #11 Matt Hartford (6.56) and #14 Alan Prusiensky (6.63). The semifinals were Erica Enders (6.50) vs Drew Skillman (6.52) vs Alex Laughlin (6.54) vs Bo Butner (6.54) and Tanner Gray (6.53) vs Chris McGaha (6.54) vs Jeg Coughlin (6.51) vs Vincent Nobile (6.51). The finals featured Erica Enders (6.51) and the Elite Motorsports team vs Drew Skillman (6.52) and the Ray Skillman Chevrolet team vs Chris McGaha (6.54) and the Harlow Sammons team vs Vincent Nobile (6.54) and the Mountain View Tire team. With the winner being Erica Enders (6.53) followed by Vincent Nobile (6.52), Chris McGaha (8.23) and Drew Skillman (18.51).

Finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the quads looked like this; #1 LE Tonglet (6.81), #8 Jerry Savoie (6.84), #9 Hector Arana Jr (6.84) and #16 Jim Underdahl (6.94). Quad #2; #4 Andrew Hines (6.82), #5 Hector Arana (6.83), #12 Angelle Sampey (6.89) and #13 Karen Stoffer (6.91). Quad #3; #2 Eddie Krawiec (6.81), #7 Cory Reed (6.83), #10 Joey Gladstone (6.86) and #15 Ryan Oehler (6.93). Quad #4; #3 Scotty Pollacheck (6.81), #6 Matt Smith (6.83), #11 Steve Johnson (6.86) and #14 Angie Smith (6.92). The semifinals were LE Tonglet (6.85) vs Jerry Savoie (6.85) vs Andrew Hines (6.84) vs Angelle Sampey (6.84) and Cory Reed (6.81) vs Ryan Oehler (6.89) vs Scotty Pollacheck (6.82) vs Matt Smith (6.89). The finals featured Jerry Savoie (6.76) and the White Alligator Racing team vs Andrew Hines (6.80) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team vs Scotty Pollacheck (6.84) and the Suzuki Extended Protection team vs Matt Smith (6.88) and the Polaris Victory Magnum team. With the winner being Jerry Savoie (6.78) followed by Andrew Hines (6.87), Scotty Pollacheck (6.86) and Matt Smith (DQ). This is Jerry’s first win of the season.

The next race will be the Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals May 4-6 in Atlanta, Georgia.
