Blogmas Day 5: The Christmas tag

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day 5! Today I thought it would be fun to do the Christmas Tag. I’ve seen this floating around and wanted to do it. Let you guys learn a little bit more about me, so let’s get started.

1. Use one noise to describe how excited you are for Christmas

This one is a little bit difficult in this format but Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and although I’m not always the most outwardly expressive with my emotions I would say at the current moment I’m around 75% excited. I still have a lot of shopping to do.

2. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No, I do not. When I was young, like most kids, I tried to persuade my parents to let me open just one little present and the answer was always no. But looking back on it now I know I would’ve wanted more than one present so I’m glad they said no.

3. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to the most this year?

I won’t get too much into it because I have a post going up later in the month about my traditions, but I will say that I love coming home and watching It’s A Wonderful Life. One of the best Christmas movies in my opinion.

4. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Well I haven’t gone and got my tree yet, I’m going this weekend, but my tree will be real. Growing up I had real trees and there’s nothing like it. Plus half the fun of a real tree is going and cutting it down. So always real trees for me.

5. What is your favorite Christmas film?

This is a tough one, but my absolute favorite Christmas film is White Christmas. The first time I watched it I was hooked. The amazing songs, the story, the cast, it’s just an amazing movie. I did a post last December about some of my favorite Christmas movies and music, so if you haven’t read those I’ll leave links to them down below.

6. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

I always spend my holiday at my parents. My siblings and I along with my parents spend Christmas and New Years together. We all live relatively close to one another but we don’t always see each other, so this time of year is really nice.

7. What is your favorite Christmas song?

This is a really tough one, I have a couple of favorite Christmas songs. Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney, Cold December Night by Michael Buble and All I want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey.

8. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

This is probably lame, but besides eggnog which I’m not even sure counts, the only other thing I really look forward to during this time is chocolate covered cherries. They are my dads favorite and I’ve been eating them at Christmas since I can remember.

9. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I think it might be a tie for me and I’ll tell you why. I like giving gifts because I love seeing the persons face when I’ve hit the nail on the head and got them something they absolutely love. As for receiving gifts besides the fact that there’s the child in all of us who just likes getting stuff, I always think it’s so nice when someone takes the time to get you a gift they know you’re really going to like regardless of whether or not you asked for it.

10. What is your favorite thing about Christmas?

I think my favorite thing is when everything comes together. All the run up, decorating and buying gifts, all of it is finally done and you can sit together with your family and enjoy it all.

11. When do you start getting excited for Christmas?

I think I start to feel that little bit of Christmas excitement the day after Thanksgiving when I put up my outdoor decorations. And it only gets more exciting from there.

12. What is the best Christmas gift you have ever received?

For me it’s a tie between my first phone and my first laptop. I got my first phone when I was 12, it was a candy apple red flip phone and I thought it was the coolest thing. When school started up my best friends has also received their own phones, I know our parents hadn’t talked with each other about it but they were so happy we weren’t clogging up the landlines anymore. The next Christmas I got my first laptop and I was over the bloody moon, I had a teacher in junior high who thought every assignment needed to be an essay and having my own computer and being able to take the time to do that was so nice. Plus I could spend all the time my heart desired chatting to my friends on MySpace and Facebook.

13. What is the worst present you’ve received?

This is gross so I apologize in advance, but the worst gift has to be a couple of years ago at a party it was a white elephant sort of thing and it was to receive homemade cookies every month for one year. Sounds fine right? Wrong. Now I don’t know why this person offered this up because they really couldn’t bake, which is fine not everyone can, but they had a lot of animals. And animals mean hair. So imagine opening a tin of cookies and being met with animal hair. It’s one of the grossest experiences I’ve had and it makes me nauseous thinking about it.

14. As a kid, did a sibling ever receive a present that you wished was for you?

There is quite an age gap between me and my siblings so I don’t think so. Although the year I got my first digital camera my siblings also got cameras, they were the big Santa presents and because I’m the youngest I open last so I was sitting there desperately hoping I would get one but it all worked out.

15. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I love the snow, so anywhere snowy. Although I have seen a bunch of YouTubers going to Edinburgh, Scotland this time of year and it looks magical. So definitely Edinburgh.

16. Most memorable holiday moment?

I think it would have to be when I was really, really little waking up at like 6 am and going to look at all the presents Santa had delivered.

17. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I don’t make resolutions actually and I never have. No particular reason behind it but good for you if you make them and stick to them.

18. What makes the holidays special for you?

I think it’s just everything I’ve mentioned and there’s a magic about it no matter how old you are.

19. What’s your least favorite part of the holidays?

I have a couple, and they are how it doesn’t matter what store you’re at, it’s a madhouse. Not that I would ever do it, but I definitely see why some people do all their Christmas shopping online. And the other is how quickly it seems to be over. You spend all this time shopping and decorating and doing festive things and it’s over in the blink of an eye.

20. You have been granted one Christmas wish, what will it be?

That’s a really good question and I had to take a minute to think about it. But if I got one Christmas wish I would use it to spend a week with either one of my favorite musicians, racing teams, or my favorite players from my favorite sports teams. It would be the best Christmas ever.

That about wraps it up for this post, it is a lot longer than I thought, but I enjoyed it. And let me know how you guys would spend your Christmas wish if you were granted one.

Until next time, I hope you’re enjoying Blogmas so far and how would you guys answer these questions? 🙂
