Racing in Pomona- Finals edition

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Pomona, California for the Auto Club NHRA Finals, the last race of the year and what a crazy and emotion filled race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel the ladder looked like this; #1 Brittany Force (3.66) vs #16 Terry Haddock (3.87), #2 Clay Millican (3.67) vs #15 Shawn Reed (3.83), #3 Leah Pritchett (3.67) vs #14 Scott Palmer (3.81), #4 Antron Brown (3.69) vs #13 Mike Salinas (3.79), #5 Steve Torrence (3.71) vs #12 Troy Buff (3.78), #6 Tony Schumacher (3.72) vs #11 Shawn Langdon (3.78), #7 Doug Kalitta (3.73) vs #10 Wayne Newby (3.78) and #8 Richie Crampton (3.74) vs #9 Terry McMillen (3.75). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Brittany Force (3.68) and Richie Crampton (3.72), Antron Brown (3.71) and Steve Torrence (3.70), Clay Millican (4.94) and Doug Kalitta (3.68) and Leah Pritchett (3.71) and Shawn Langdon (3.72). The semifinals were Brittany Force (3.67) vs Antron Brown (3.69) and Doug Kalitta (3.68) vs Shawn Langdon (3.68). The finals featured Brittany Force (3.67) and the Monster Energy team and Shawn Langdon (3.71) and the Global Electronic Technology team. With the winner being Brittany Force (3.66). This is Brittany’s fourth win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car where the ladder looked like this; #1 Jack Beckman (3.83) vs #16 Jeff Arend (4.14), #2 Tim Wilkerson (3.86) vs #15 Robert Hight (4.13), #3 Courtney Force (3.87) vs #14 Jeff Diehl (4.10), #4 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.88) vs #13 Bob Bode (4.03), #5 Alexis DeJoria (3.89) vs #12 Jim Campbell (4.02), #6 Ron Capps (3.89) vs #11 Del Worsham (3.97), #7 Matt Hagan (3.89) vs #10 Gary Densham (3.96) and #8 John Force (3.93) vs #9 JR Todd (3.94). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Jack Beckman (3.83) and John Force (4.17), Tommy Johnson Jr (4.04) and Alexis DeJoria (3.93), Robert Hight (3.83) and Matt Hagan (3.87) and Courtney Force (4.15) and Del Worsham (4.04). The semifinals were Jack Beckman (3.85) vs Tommy Johnson Jr (3.91) and Robert Hight (3.85) vs Courtney Force (3.84). The finals featured Tommy Johnson Jr (3.89) and the Make-A-Wish team and Robert Hight (3.86) and the AAA team. With the winner being Tommy Johnson Jr (3.92). This is Tommy’s second win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock where the ladder looked like this; #1 Greg Anderson (6.54) vs #16 Alan Prusiensky (6.66), #2 Jason Line (6.54) vs #15 Deric Kramer (6.62), #3 Drew Skillman (6.55) vs #14 Kenny Delco (6.61), #4 Jeg Coughlin (6.55) vs #13 Matt Hartford (6.59), #5 Bo Butner (6.55) vs #12 Shane Gray (6.59), #6 Tanner Gray (6.56) vs #11 Alex Laughlin (6.58), #7 Erica Enders (6.56) vs #10 Allen Johnson (6.58) and #8 Chris McGaha (6.57) vs #9 Brian Self (6.57). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Greg Anderson (6.56) and Brian Self (6.60), Jeg Coughlin (6.61) and Bo Butner (6.58), Jason Line (6.55) and Erica Enders (6.55) and Drew Skillman (6.54) and Tanner Gray (6.55). The semifinals were Greg Anderson (6.56) vs Bo Butner (6.56) and Jason Line (6.56) vs Tanner Gray (6.55). The finals featured Bo Butner (6.55) and the Jim Butner Auto team and Tanner Gray (6.55) and the Gray Motorsports team. With the winner being Bo Butner (6.55). This is Bo’s fifth win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle where the ladder looked like this; #1 Eddie Krawiec (6.78) vs #16 Lance Bonham (7.15), #2 Andrew Hines (6.79) vs #15 Ryan Oehler (7.00), #3 Chip Ellis, who was racing with Vance and Hines for the weekend, (6.80) vs #14 Katie Sullivan (6.96), #4 Scotty Pollacheck (6.81) vs #13 Freddie Camarena (6.95), #5 Hector Arana Jr (6.82) vs #12 Matt Smith (6.95), #6 LE Tonglet (6.86) vs #11 Karen Stoffer (6.93), #7 Joey Gladstone (6.87) vs #10 Angie Smith (6.91) and #8 Steve Johnson (6.87) vs #9 Jerry Savoie (6.88). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Eddie Krawiec (6.87) and Jerry Savoie (6.90), Scotty Pollacheck (6.83) and Matt Smith (6.99), Andrew Hines (6.82) and Joey Gladstone (6.92) and Chip Ellis (6.83) and LE Tonglet (6.86). The semifinals were Eddie Krawiec (6.82) vs Matt Smith (6.85) and Andrew Hines (6.82) vs LE Tonglet (6.89). The finals featured Eddie Krawiec (6.80) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team and Andrew Hines (6.81) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team. With the winner being Andrew Hines (6.85). This is Andrew’s first win of the season.

Important note: This was the last race for Alexis DeJoria and Allen Johnson as they have both decided to retire and they will definitely be missed.
