Racing in Missouri

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to St. Louis, Missouri for the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, the third race in the Countdown and what a great race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, Clay Millican set the new national ET record with a 3.631 at 330.39, and the ladder looked like this; #1 Clay Millican (3.63) vs #16 Kyle Wurtzel (3.86), #2 Leah Pritchett (3.67) vs #15 Ashley Sanford (3.84), #3 Tony Schumacher (3.68) vs #14 Troy Buff (3.83), #4 Doug Kalitta (3.68) vs #13 Scott Palmer (3.78), #5 Brittany Force (3.69) vs #12 Pat Dakin (3.76), #6 Antron Brown (3.69) vs #11 Terry McMillen (3.74), #7 Steve Torrence (3.69) vs #10 Shawn Langdon (3.72) and #8 Dom Lagana (3.71) vs #9 Richie Crampton (3.71). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Clay Millican (3.66) and Dom Lagana (3.72), Doug Kalitta (3.84) and Brittany Force (3.64), Leah Pritchett (3.67) and Steve Torrence (3.67) and Tony Schumacher (3.69) and Antron Brown (3.72). The semifinals were Dom Lagana (3.73) vs Doug Kalitta (3.71) and Steve Torrence (3.67) vs Antron Brown (3.69). The finals featured Doug Kalitta (3.71) and the Mac Tools team and Steve Torrence (3.68) and the Capco team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (3.68). This is Steve’s eighth win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Robert Hight (3.83) vs #16 Dale Creasy Jr (4.03), #2 John Force (3.83) vs #15 Brian Stewart (4.01), #3 Ron Capps (3.84) vs #14 Jim Campbell (4.00), #4 Alexis DeJoria (3.86) vs #13 Cruz Pedregon (3.97), #5 Jonnie Lindberg (3.87) vs #12 Tim Wilkerson (3.92), #6 Jack Beckman (3.87) vs #11 Del Worsham (3.91), #7 Courtney Force (3.87) vs #10 JR Todd (3.90) and #8 Matt Hagan (3.89) vs #9 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.89). The winner and who they would face in the second round were Robert Hight (3.87) and Matt Hagan (3.83), Alexis DeJoria (3.88) and Jonnie Lindberg (3.94), John Force (5.56) and Courtney Force (3.88) and Ron Capps (3.90) and Jack Beckman (3.85). The semifinals were Robert Hight (3.91) vs Jonnie Lindberg (3.87) and John Force (3.91) vs Ron Capps (3.88). The finals featured Jonnie Lindberg (3.89) and the Head Racing team and Ron Capps (3.90) and the NAPA Auto Parts team. With the winner being Ron Capps (3.87). This is Ron’s eighth win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Greg Anderson (6.50) vs #16 Dave River (6.90), #2 Bo Butner (6.51) vs #15 Mark Hogan (6.73), #3 Jason Line (6.51) vs #14 Alan Prusiensky (6.62), #4 Drew Skillman (6.51) vs #13 Brian Self (6.59), #5 Chris McGaha (6.52) vs #12 Jeg Coughlin (6.57), #6 Tanner Gray (6.52) vs #11 Deric Kramer (6.57), #7 Erica Enders (6.55) vs #10 Allen Johnson (6.56) and #8 Alex Laughlin (6.55) vs #9 Larry Morgan (6.55). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Greg Anderson (6.52) and Larry Morgan (6.65), Brian Self (6.61) and Chris McGaha (6.54), Bo Butner (6.52) and Erica Enders (6.56) and Jason Line (6.51) and Deric Kramer (6.59). The semifinals were Greg Anderson (6.56) vs Brian Self (6.59) and Bo Butner (6.56) vs Jason Line (6.55). The finals featured Greg Anderson (6.57) and the Summit Racing Equipment team and Jason Line (6.57) and the Summit Racing Equipment team. With the winner being Greg Anderson (6.57). This is Greg’s third win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looks like this; #1 Andrew Hines (6.78) vs #16 Andie Rawlings (7.65), #2 Eddie Krawiec (6.78) vs #15 David Hope (7.08), #3 Matt Smith (6.79) vs #14 Steve Johnson (7.02), #4 Scotty Pollacheck (6.80) vs #13 Ryan Oehler (6.99), #5 Jerry Savoie (6.81) vs #12 Marc Ingwerson (6.98), #6 Angie Smith (6.82) vs #11 Mike Berry (6.92), #7 LE Tonglet (6.83) vs #10 Joey Gladstone (6.88) and #8 Hector Arana Jr (6.83) vs #9 Karen Stoffer (6.85). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Andrew Hines (6.96) and Karen Stoffer (6.84), Scotty Pollacheck (6.84) and Jerry Savoie (6.81), Eddie Krawiec (6.78) and LE Tonglet (6.82) and Matt Smith (6.83) and Angie Smith (6.84). The semifinals were Andrew Hines (6.80) vs Scotty Pollacheck (6.82) and LE Tonglet (6.82) vs Matt Smith (6.82). The finals featured Andrew Hines (6.84) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team and LE Tonglet (6.81) and the Nitro Fish team. With the winner being LE Tonglet (6.79). This is LE’s sixth win of the season.

The next race will be the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, October 12-15 in Dallas, Texas.
