Racing in North Carolina

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to North Carolina for the NHRA Carolina Nationals and the first race of the Countdown. And what a good race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Doug Kalitta (3.72) vs #16 Chris Karamesines (4.73), #2 Steve Torrence (3.72) vs #15 Terry Haddock (4.70), #3 Leah Pritchett (3.72) vs #14 Wayne Newby (3.83), #4 Antron Brown (3.72) vs #13 Terry McMillen (3.82), #5 Clay Millican (3.74) vs #13 Dom Lagana (3.80), #6 Brittany Force (3.74) vs #11 Pat Dakin (3.79), #7 Richie Crampton (3.74) vs #10 Scott Palmer (3.79) and #8 Shawn Langdon (3.77) vs #9 Tony Schumacher (3.78). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Doug Kalitta (3.85) and Tony Schumacher (3.76), Antron Brown (3.79) and Clay Millican (3.72), Steve Torrence (3.77) and Richie Crampton (3.75) and Wayne Newby (3.82) and Brittany Force (3.75). The semifinals were Doug Kalitta (3.77) vs Clay Millican (3.75) and Richie Crampton (3.76) vs Brittany Force (3.79). The finals featured Doug Kalitta (3.78) and the Mac Tools team and Richie Crampton (3.80) and the SealMaster team. With the winner being Doug Kalitta (3.77). This is Doug’s first win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Courtney Force (3.89) vs #16 Bob Gilbertson (4.44), #2 JR Todd (3.89) vs #15 Jeff Diehl (4.24), #3 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.90) vs #14 Dave Richards (4.06), #4 Jack Beckman (3.90) vs #13 Jim Campbell (4.06), #5 Alexis DeJoria (3.91) vs #12 Jonnie Lindberg (3.98), #6 Robert Hight (3.91) vs #11 Matt Hagan (3.98), #7 Tim Wilkerson (3.96) vs #10 Ron Capps (3.98) and #8 Cruz Pedregon (3.96) vs #9 John Force (3.96). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Courtney Force (3.94) and John Force (4.07), Jim Campbell (4.18) and Alexis DeJoria (3.98), JR Todd (3.95) and Ron Capps (4.36) and Tommy Johnson Jr (4.06) and Robert Hight (3.92). The semifinals were Courtney Force (3.93) vs Alexis DeJoria (3.97) and JR Todd (3.97) vs Robert Hight (3.95). The finals featured Courtney Force (3.95) and the Advanced Auto Parts team and Robert Hight (3.98) and the AAA team. With the winner being Robert Hight (3.94). This is Robert’s third win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Tanner Gray (6.55) vs #16 Val Smeland (6.82), #2 Greg Anderson (6.56) vs #15 Alan Prusiensky (6.70), #3 Bo Butner (6.57) vs #14 Shane Tucker (6.70), #4 Jason Line (6.57) vs #13 Larry Morgan (6.66), #5 Chris McGaha (6.58) vs #12 Kenny Delco (6.63), #6 Jeg Coughlin (6.58) vs #11 Vincent Nobile (6.62), #7 Drew Skillman (6.58) vs #10 Allen Johnson (6.60) and #8 Alex Laughlin (6.60) vs #9 Erica Enders (6.60). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Tanner Gray (6.58) and Erica Enders (6.65), Jason Line (6.60) and Kenny Delco (6.76), Greg Anderson (6.61) and Drew Skillman (6.62) and Bo Butner (6.59) and Jeg Coughlin (6.62). The semifinals were Tanner Gray (6.58) vs Jason Line (6.60) and Greg Anderson (6.60) vs Bo Butner (6.62). The finals featured Tanner Gray (6.61) and the Gray Motorsports team and Greg Anderson (6.61) and the Summit Racing Equipment team. With the winner being Tanner Gray (6.61). This is Tanner’s fifth win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle where the ladder looked like this; #1 Andrew Hines (6.82) vs #16 Charles Sullivan (7.11), #2 Eddie Krawiec (6.83) vs #15 Mark Paquette (7.00), #3 Jerry Savoie (6.83) vs #14 Melissa Surber (6.97), #4 Hector Arana Jr (6.84) vs #13 Kelly Clontz (6.95), #5 Scotty Pollacheck (6.85) vs #12 Steve Johnson (6.94), #6 LE Tonglet (6.86) vs #11 Joey Gladstone (6.91), #7 Matt Smith (6.87) vs #10 Karen Stoffer (6.90) and #8 Angie Smith (6.87) vs #9 Chip Ellis (6.87). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Andrew Hines (6.89) and Chip Ellis (6.98), Hector Arana Jr (6.86) and Scotty Pollacheck (6.86), Eddie Krawiec (6.83) and Matt Smith (6.87) and Jerry Savoie (6.87) and LE Tonglet (6.93). The semifinals were Andrew Hines (6.83) vs Hector Arana Jr (6.86) and Eddie Krawiec (6.82) vs Jerry Savoie (6.86). The finals featured Andrew Hines (6.86) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team and Eddie Krawiec (6.84) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team. With the winner being Eddie Krawiec (6.85). This is Eddie’s fourth win of the season.

The next race will be the Dodge NHRA Nationals, September 21-24 in Reading, Pennsylvania.
